Paxton Consolidated Schools uses Reading Mastery for a core in reading, spelling and language. I teach Reading Mastery grade 3. In this level of reading, we talk about the inner planets. One of the special projects was to find more information about these planets and share their findings with the class. I took that one step further. I divided the students into groups and assigned them a planet. Each student was to use their computers to look up the planet and find facts about that planet. Once all the facts were gathered, the students worked with their partner and put together a report of their findings. After the report was typed, they turned the report into a podcast. When the podcast was finished, the students once again returned to the internet to look for pictures of their planet or any other interesting picture dealing with their topic. Once the students finished locating their pictures, they added them into the podcast and had a finished project, with some editing from their teacher. They shared these to the class and all was a great success.
